August 7, 2024.
Grand Knight Steve Deporter called the meeting to order at 6:30.
The meeting started with a prayer followed by the Pledge of Allegiance.
Previous meeting minutes (Boyd) –approved by Dick and Dan.
Treasurers’ report (Pete) – $35,981.26– approved by Tom and Jerry
Financial Secretary’s report (Brent) – 90 members – 60 associates – approved by Chris and Tom. Brent said if you need a hat, order it from Knight’s Gear.
Meeting discussion items –Dan is working on choices for marketing signs and has some prices.
- Father Gary suggested a large K of C sign that the letters could be changed or possibly a digital sign.
- Tom and Jerry will oversee donuts and coffee at Ambrose in August.
- St. Ambrose K of C started 25 years ago in 1999. Larry and Jerry are working on a 25-year anniversary party for November.
- Greg thanked the Knights for their help with the Steubenville Program. Over 115,000 students were involved. Many students want to go next year. Father Gary suggested applying to the diocese for a grant.
- Golf outing – raised approximately $16,000.
- Dick reminded everyone about the Tootsie roll fund raiser in September.
- The Knights have kits with rosaries for new members or new degree awardees. Any innovative ideas on how to recruit new members would be welcomed. Steve suggested talking at the masses. He is setting a goal for 25 new members for the K of C. Members could wear shirts advertising the K of C at masses.
- Tom oversees the next beef raffle. In November the beef goes to the locker. 800 tickets will be ordered. Each ticket is sold for $10.
- Rick C. reinstalled all of the officers.
- Father Gary reported that the Parish Center was painted.
- On Oct. 24, there will be a Priest / Religious Appreciation night at the Believers Together Center. Cost is $25.
- Father Gary asked for funding for the Formed program (cost – $2199) Approved by Dan and Preston.
- Aug. 25 is the Ice Cream Social at St. Pats.
- Motion to adjourn the meeting by Greg and Dan.
- * Several members mentioned that the meeting was lively, and the members really were involved.
