Knights of Columbus St. Ambrose Council 12576
Date – June 7, 2023 – minutes of meeting Grand Knight Dan Deporter called the meeting to order at 6:30. The meeting started with a prayer followed by the Pledge of Allegiance.
Minutes of previous meeting – approved by Doc, 2nd by George.
Treasurers’ report (Pete) – absent
Financial Secretary’s report (Brent) – 99 members (63 regular and 23 associate). The K of C doesn’t owe anything. New member – Dave Schor. Approved by Steve and 2nd by Larry.
Meeting discussion items –
Larry – new degree information – new degrees (Mike Goeben and Tom Verschoor). There may be another degree program in July.
Jerry reported that there be a steak fry for 4th degrees on the 1st Thursday of August at Farrell Hall. There may be a 4th degree program at Cedar Rapids in July. Call Jerry Fowler for more details.
A $1100 budget for the project including landscaping the Divine Mercy area in the parking lot was approved. Larry made the motion and Chris 2nd. Jonah Verschoor is doing the landscaping as part of an Eagle Scout Project.
Rosaries are covered for masses at St. Ambrose and St. Patrick’s. Steve and Chris reported.
Donuts and coffee at Ambrose being handled by Jay and Steve.
Larry said all the slots are taken for the golf outing (June 17).
The group voted not to donate to the Cambodia mission.
Cursillo will be held for men on Oct. 19 -22 and women will be held Nov. 16 – 19.
Contact Dr. Phillis for information on the flag retirement ceremony on June 17.
George and Larry working on a list of officers. Transfer of officers will be at St. Ambrose at 5:30 on July 5. After that K of C will meet at the River Grill.
Father Joe gave his last Chaplain report and discussed the importance of the K of C. He joined in 2010. He received his 4th degree in Coralville within the last year.
