Date – Sept. 6, 2023 – minutes of meeting

Grand Knight Steve Deporter called the meeting to order at 6:30.

 The meeting started with a prayer followed by the Pledge of Allegiance.

Previous meeting minutes (Boyd) – approved by Dan and Dave.

Treasurers’ report (Pete) – absent – no report

Financial Secretary’s report (Brent) – 89 members (& 63 associates).  Owe $521 to the state council. Tom Kilbride has become a life member.    Approved by Bob and 2nd by Chris.

Meeting discussion items –

Larry – is absent – no degree information.  No scholarship information.

Tom Verschoor – Minuteman Press will print 400 tickets for $85.  The price for drawing will be $10 per ticket.  The drawing date is Nov.5. There will be 3 prizes.  The first prize will be a ¼ of beef and a freezer.  The second prize will be a ¼ of a beef.  The third prize will be a wine basket.  The tickets would be $10 each with plans to sell 400 tickets.  The beef would be processed in November at Durant.

Donuts and coffee at Ambrose are being handled by Jay and Jeff.

Cursillo will be held for men on Oct. 19 -22 and women will be held Nov. 16 – 19.  This will be mentioned at the masses.

Dr. Phillis has suggested having 3 K of C meetings at St. Patrick’s during the year.  The first date at St; Patrick’s will be Nov.8.  Men from the parish should be invited.

Dick oversees the Tootsie roll event on Sept. 15 and 16.  Please sign up! Dick needs more people.  Steve and Jeff oversee the candy and nut sales in November.

Jeff reported the Walk to Emmaus last year was a success with over 1000 people involved.   Oct. 7 is the date this year.  Another church has asked for volunteers to help with a similar event on Sept 8 which involves a procession from Hampton to Rapid City.  If interested, contact Jeff.  Dick and Preston made a motion to donate $500 to the March.

Steve discussed providing breakfast for a Guard Unit FRG. Cost $250.  Motion by Tom and 2nd by Boyd.

Rick Cervantes was introduced.  He is the District Deputy.  He discussed ideas for council members such as Safety Environment Training and online training.

On Oct. 8 there will be a mass at 8 for deceased Knights.  Bernie is in charge.

Tom Deporter presented a check for $300 from the refreshment fund from the Knight’s meetings.

Preston and George discussed establishing a fund for replacing the American and Vatican Flags on a continuous basis.
